How do I ask customers for Google reviews on WhatsApp?

Send one short message a few days after the job is done, thank them, and share the direct review link. Ask every customer who dealt with you, not only the happy ones, and never offer a discount or gift in return. One polite request is enough; do not send reminders.

Who asks this: The owner of a local Indian business such as a clinic, salon, repair shop or service firm who wants more Google reviews, has customer numbers on WhatsApp, and is unsure what is allowed and what feels pushy.

The steps

  1. 1. Get your direct review link

Open your business profile on Google and copy the link that opens the review box straight away. The owner of this step is whoever manages the profile. A customer who has to search for your business is much less likely to leave a review.

  2. 2. Choose the moment

Ask when the experience is fresh but the job is complete: a day or two after a delivery, a repair, a treatment or a class. Mark the job as done in your record, so the request is tied to a real completed job and not sent at random.

  3. 3. Write one short message

Thank the customer by name, say that an honest review helps others find you, and share the link. Keep it to three lines and write in the language the customer used with you. Do not tell them what to write or what rating to give.

  4. 4. Ask everyone who dealt with you

Send the same request to every customer who messaged you or agreed to hear from you, not only those who seemed pleased. Choosing only happy customers is against Google's rules, and it also hides what you could learn from the others.

  5. 5. Offer no reward and send it once

Do not offer a discount, a gift or a lucky draw for a review. Send the request once and do not follow up. If the customer replies with a complaint instead, deal with the complaint first and leave the review request alone.

  6. 6. Reply to every review, including a bad one

Within a day or two, thank the person who wrote a good review. For a negative review, reply calmly, say what you will do, and offer to talk offline. Draft the reply, let a second person read it, then post it from the owner's account.

A worked example

illustrative

A two-chair hair salon in Pune completes about forty appointments a week. The front-desk person marks each visit as done in a notebook sheet. Two days later she sends the same three-line message with the review link to each customer who booked on WhatsApp. About ten customers write reviews over a month. One customer posts three stars and mentions a long wait. The owner replies the next day, apologises, and says that bookings are now spaced out on Saturdays. The customer later returns, and the salon notes the wait problem in its own weekly review as a real thing to fix.

What goes wrong

  • A discount is offered for a review, which Google treats as manipulation, and the reviews can be removed.
  • Only customers who looked happy are asked, which breaks the rules and skews the picture.
  • The request is sent before the job is done, or to someone who has a complaint open.
  • The same message is sent three times, and the customer feels pressed.
  • The link goes to the profile page, so the customer cannot find where to write.
  • A negative review is answered in anger, and later readers see the owner's reply.

How Demystify OS helps

  • WhatsAppProvisioned on request

WhatsApp is connected on request, so one approved request can go to a customer in the chat where they already spoke to you.

  • Mysty WorkersEarly access

Mysty Workers can be set up with you to send one approved request a set number of days after a job is marked done, only to customers who messaged you, and to draft a calm reply to a negative review for a person to approve. A review-request routine is not yet a standard catalogue entry.

  • Weekly summaryEarly access

A weekly summary can list the new reviews and the replies still waiting, so the owner sees them in one place.

What it does not do. Demystify OS does not offer rewards for reviews, choose which customers to ask, filter out unhappy customers or post on your Google profile for you; a person approves each message and each reply.

Questions people ask

Can I give a discount for a Google review?

No. Google's policy does not allow a business to offer anything in return for a review, and reviews gained that way can be removed. Ask politely, say an honest review helps others, and keep any thank-you separate from the request.

Can I ask only my happy customers?

No. Google's policy also prohibits selectively asking customers who are likely to leave positive reviews. Ask everyone who dealt with you in the same way, and treat the lower ratings as useful information about what to fix.

When is the best time to ask?

A day or two after the job is complete is usually right: the experience is fresh and the customer has had time to use the result. Avoid asking while a complaint is open or while the customer is still in your shop.

How many times should I ask?

Once. A single polite message is enough, and a reminder tends to irritate people who meant to do it later. If you want more reviews, ask more customers, not the same customer again.

How should I reply to a bad review?

Wait until you are calm, thank them for the feedback, say what you will do about it, and invite them to talk offline. Avoid arguing or sharing private details. Readers judge you more by the reply than by the review.
